about mike: creator, husband, weekend warrior, lover of life, observer of the human conditionHello and welcome to my site! Although my wife and I both grew up traveling to lake houses, we never thought we'd ever actually manage to live on one full-time. A simple twist of fate and some luck finally swung our way, and we realized a life-long dream in 2014 with a home on Morse Reservoir, Noblesville, IN. Over the last two years, I've tried to spend as much time as the weather allows on the lake and take advantage of the opportunities I have. I graduated from Washington and Lee University and my wife is a proud Boilermaker from Purdue University. We rescued Murphy after he was abandoned in the Blue Ridge Mountains at the ripe old age of 2 months. I grew up as a swimmer and played football and wrestled through college, however spent most of my career dislocating my shoulders or getting concussed. Today, I try to organize my entire life to maximize and optimize my time on the lake, and it was in this effort that I came up with the idea for this website. Throughout my ramblings, I'll bring you some insight, perspective, high-brow comedy (also maybe some low-brow), and reviews of my favorite things that make my life on the lake better, more convenient, and more fun, and of course, plenty of long-form think pieces! As a retired wrestler, I am constantly battling my with weight and still trying to be an athlete, so you'll hear a lot about that too! As a weekend warrior triathlete and a big man, I'll show you what big-men can do by competing in local races in the Clydesdale division and if I could ever, for once in my life, not get ridiculous injuries, I will compete in and win the Clydesdale National Sprint Triathlon...although my ultimate goal is to get back to my wrestling weight and start "going long". I am a man with a lot of interests, and I'm made of glass, so I never know what I'll do. Like the waves in the wind, I try to just go with it. I have a deep and profound love for Costco, Cabela's, The Avett Brothers, pizza, beer, and Amazon Prime (and of course his wife Logan, and dog Murphy).
